Mitchell/Tufts Foundation Scholarship

The Mitchell/Tufts Foundation Scholarship was established at The Dallas Foundation in 2014. The goal of the Fund is to make a college degree or vocational certification possible for members or persons active in the life of a Presbyterian church in the Presbyterian Church USA in North Central Texas, who are students of promise and can demonstrate financial need. Renewals are not automatic, but past recipients are encouraged to reapply each year.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an active member or active in the life of a Presbyterian church in the Presbyterian Church USA, in North Central Texas. Preference may be given to persons active in the life of FPC Richardson
  • Be accepted for enrollment or are currently enrolled in a two- or four-year undergraduate program in an accredited college, university, vocational school or trade school 
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • Have work experience and/or community service experience 

Amount: $1,000.00 - $5,000.00

Funds to be used for: Tuition, fees and books

Application Deadline: May 1, 2020

Please follow the instructions below to apply:

  1. Go to https://dallasfoundation.spectrumportal.net
    (you can also find the link easily on our website at www.dallasfoundation.org then click on "Scholarships" then "Scholarship Listing" then "Mitchell/Tufts Scholarship").
  2. Create an account: The Dallas Foundation has a new portal and even if you have applied in the past, you will need to create a new account by clicking "Register" then selecting "Scholarship Applicant" under Portal Access. Once you complete and submit all of the required information, the system will automatically send you an email confirming your registration.
  3. Log in to the portal: Using the username and password you selected, navigate to Scholarship Applicant > Find Scholarships. Locate the Mitchell/Tufts Scholarship, click the link, then enter the access code sanford. Since this scholarship is reserved ONLY for PCUSA students, you must enter the access code sanford.
  4. Begin the application process: Once the code is entered, you'll see the description of the Mitchell/Tufts Scholarship, and you can begin the scholarship application.

This scholarship is separate from the scholarships granted by the Permanent Funds committee and is not affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Richardson. Please direct any questions to scholarships@dallasfoundation.org.
